According to my range of scores during this student leadership practices inventory, ‘modeling the way’ was my only high score putting me at a 21.5/peer-evaluation and a 25/self-evaluation. How can I score high in one area and not the other? This is discussed in greater detail in my action-planning worksheet for ‘enabling others to act.’ ‘Inspiring a shared vision’ was not a strong leadership behavior that I personify. I have a tendency to be quite selfish sometimes and this is never a good trait to have in a multicultural work environment, especially as a leader. The score that I gave myself in this department was lower than my peers review, suggesting that I am sometimes harder on myself than others. I always thought that I was pretty vocal in regards to how I feel about actions or procedures at work, and I have never been afraid to have a sit-down with superiors to be heard. This score indicates to me that I need to start treating subordinates in the same manner as superiors, maybe this will open up dialogue and help to inspire a shared vision among all involved in the process. My ‘challenging the process’ scores were higher by peers than myself and put me in the low 20th percentile to the 35th percentile. This is probably due to the fact that I have a bad habit of thinking that my ideas of correction or direction are more appropriate than others’ suggestions. This is not a good leadership behavior to possess, since it could drive people away from me rather than creating unity
