The primary lesson that I took from this exercise was that trust is important. It’s critical whom you trust, and what you say to certain individuals can directly affect the results. Furthermore, I learned that being patient and thinking things out clearly, would often yield different results. Also, I determined that communication and body language is important and critical for trust, yet, to try and not judge someone from their demeanor and behaviors. This may have been a reflection of my lack of confidence, and where I subconsciously believe that I need to learn, grow and strengthen my skills as a leader. What I learned from others is that people gravitate to individuals who are familiar to them, and whom they’re comfortable with. I also observed that my longstanding relationships with many of my fellow colleagues might have dictated a neutral response from them. Furthermore, I learned that many people have different styles of communication, as well as various patterns of behavior. What I will apply to skillful leadership from this exercise is to try not to judge others, attempt to observe, communicate and be open-minded and supportive. Moreover, be mindful that my tone and actions have a significant effect on others, and attempt to listen and try to read gestures and body language. A significant insight that was observed from this exercise was that body language plays an important role in an individual’s behavior, which can transcend language and other cultural barriers. The fifth experiential exercise conducted was called “Break the Safe, and was comprised of a board game with 5 teams of 3-5 individuals. The objective of this exercise is to be a member of a group of agents who have 30 minutes to acquire four keys to unlock the safe and stop the countdown. Each team member is a spy trying to get the four keys against the booby traps that require a special tool to disarm. Furthermore, there is a guard and a guard dog that will send you to jail if they successfully catch
