Personal Leadership Paper
Through the semester in Freshman Seminar (UCOL 1200), I have learned a few important things about myself and leadership. Leadership has always been important to me and UCOL 1200, has reinforced why by teaching me about myself. The first item I learned about myself would be my signature themes. Learning about my signature themes gave me insight as to why I am the way I am. My signature themes also allowed me to see why I make certain decisions. They also paved the way for me to make important academic, career, and life goals. Everything I learned about myself in UCOL 1200 has helped me shape my own unique leadership style and leadership strengths.

One of the biggest things I can do to improve my personal leadership style, is to watch the shadow sides of my strengths. I do not want to ruin my chances of leading because I was too focused on myself and not others. While working on my style throughout the class, I have learned to better include everyone else’s opinion. My way is not always the best solution for every possible situation, so I should include a little more democracy in my leadership style. Another thing I need to learn as I am developing as a leader is to be more inclusive. I need to be more accepting of other people's opinions and personalities. I cannot be a great leader and not more open to others. I do not think I mean perfect at all, so I'm always up for improvement. Staying involved throughout campus is how I plan on teaching myself to become a better leader. UCOL 1200 and COMM 3134 cannot teach me everything I need to know on how to lead. Watching and learning from current campus leaders will give me the chance to improve my own leadership style. When looking at my former peers and friends, I feel as though I am a very talented
