My personal philanthropic goals. .

Shirley Chisholm, the first black woman elected to Congress and the first Black woman to run for President said, “Service is the rent we pay for the privilege of living on this earth.” To me, service is very important. Especially when being a part of the Honors Society, philanthropy is something that is always a part of my life. It is the love of humanity and the selfless will to fight for change in a community where help is needed. Philanthropy is the will to be human in inhumane situations, and to be bold towards change. It is the opposite of indifference and self righteousness. It is like a tugging that says “You have to do something about it”. When being stagnant through unfortunate events that happen in the community, it allows for them to fester and grow to an array of more communities. We typically tend to think of philanthropy narrowly as just the giving of money when it is so much more. It is giving your time, voice or money, to an important for the greater community good. There are so many young people in the world who have big dreams and aspirations but may not have the educators, tools, skills or mentors to guide them towards reaching what they want in life. I believe that by inspiring young children to stay educated and motivated through positive role models we can build the next generation of leaders. It is very sad to know that there are so many children in the world whose families cannot afford an education, or may not have positive role models. With guidance I believe that they can rise above adversities and live the life they
