Korede and Ayoola are both sisters from abusive families and try to go through while carrying the souls of the people they have murdered. Korede is Ayoola’s older sister and through the whole story, she is always responsible for taking care of Ayoola and making sure she doesn’t do anything wrong If Ayoola were to cause something Korede would be to blame. In the book, Korede and Ayoola try to protect each other but sometimes end up arguing and blaming each other for things that go wrong. We cannot forgive Korede’s actions because although she didn’t kill like Ayoola, Korede is the reason Ayoola is how she is. We cannot forgive Ayoola because she chose to kill people and would not try to stop. We cannot forgive Korede’s actions because she killed her own father and she is the reason why Ayoola has become a serial killer. Life without her…And if she is gone, it is my fault for saying more than I should have” (198). This quote shows that Korede cares for Ayoola. This demonstrates that Ayool truly trusts Korede because they are sisters and have each other's back. This means that Korede feels responsible for what Ayoola causes and what happens to her.
