I have developed leadership qualities when my Tae Kwon Do coach trusted me to lead our team during national championships. This has led me to then hold various leadership positions in undergraduate and dental school clubs. Moreover, my critical thinking abilities have excelled from being a mathematics and physics tutor. Tutoring has always challenged me to think outside the box in complicated problems, and this would allow me to use my creative skills when facing complex cases in my field. Persistence is another key element that is crucial in success.
One of my strengths is in creativity. I am person who excels greatly when I am able to be creative and have freedom to think outside the box. However, that can also become a weakness because for assignments that are more limited and structured I to find to be challenging. Another strength I have is being able to learn quickly from my previous mistakes. There are times where I mess up or do something wrong, but my plan is to put those failures to good use.
I have worked in many leadership roles in the past, which include dealing with both children and young adults that has caused me to build a huge amount of patience. I am a very confident and optimistic woman who is very encouraging and will push anyone to their full potential. I am able to adapt to many different situations and able to interact with a wide variety of personalities. I am a very dedicated and passionate person, who puts their all into everything they do. I have mediated conflicts before, as well as delegated for those who have felt they had no voice.

Leaders possess different strengths that allow them to succeed in their career or life. The Clifton Strengths Finder Assessment helped identify my top strengths and how to lead with my strengths in order to further develop them. My top five strengths were competition, positivity, winning others over (WOO), harmony, and achiever. Based on the meaning of each strength, I related to all them, however, I was surprised by some of them.
According to the StrengthsFinder survey, my top five signature strengths/themes are: Ideation, Adaptability, Deliberative, Activator, and Command (StrengthsFinder, 2015). Admittedly, the level of accuracy in which the survey was able to identify some of my traits was surprising. However, these are traits I have been aware of and developed over the years from childhood to present day, but have not had them in such a format that adds context. The survey results were right about me taking one day at a time – I do not worrying about things such as legacy, long term career goals, and what people think of me – Adaptability.
In the novel, Margaret Atwood uses the literary device of symbolism to point out the symbols that represent gender roles for women that they need to follow or else they start a conflict between genders and become outsiders in society. Being a maid in the nineteenth century, symbolized one of the roles for women that they need to conform, but there are some women who did not want to work as a maid. Dora, a maid that works at Dr. Jordan’s hotel is an example of someone who does not appreciate working as a maid and Dr. Jordan can see this in her. “It’s obvious that she detests being a maid-of-all-work; he wonders if there is anything else she might prefer. He has tried imagining her as a prostitute…but he can’t picture any man actually paying for her services.”
I love to read and learn, I love to read self-improvement books, and books about science. I am drawn to lists that have suggestions, tips, exercises, and suggestions on whatever topic I am interested in at the moment or need to learn about. This strength can help me succeed at GCU because I tend to enjoy talking to my classmates and professors about ideas, theories, and concepts to gather the latest thinking. I love to gather information, I will often delve more deeply into subjects that intrigue me the most people. This could be a positive when I have big projects or research papers.
To begin with, my top strength is positivity. According to Rath, “ You are generous with praise, quick to smile, and always on the lookout for the positive in the situation” (Rath p141). I believe it is always important to be positive regardless of how bad a situation is. My job is to motivate others when they become pessimistic of a certain task. This strength is essential in both school and a career as neither a classmate or a co-worker wants to surround him or herself with negativity that makes for a long day.

These traits are intelligence, self-confidence, determination, integrity, and sociability. I recognize all of these traits within myself. Between my leadership history and my strengths, which were identified from the StrengthsFinder Inventory that I completed this past year, I realize that I
Strengths: As a student one of my strengths is organization. I can say I can keep my school materials and notebooks organized in a way that I and others can comprehend. The reason I can say I am organized is because, I have hardly ever had in the past or present any issues with trying to find homework or assignments because I always kept my materials for each class organized and in a place I could easily find. Another strength I have is social skills. I can believe that I communicate with others well in a group.
