A resident assistant is supposed to provide a safe, welcoming environment where residents feel free to communicate and express themselves. My biggest strength that relates to the roles of the RA position is being able to Communicate effectively. I am a Communication major, and I have learned to speak in public, and speak in a manner that is both understandable and clear. I have been told many times before that I have a great sense of humor and extremely creative. Being creative is a key strength in the role of an RA as well as a sense of humor because these are the traits that will bring a community of students, students who probably don't know each other well, together as well as conduct fun educational programs that will engage each resident. …show more content…
I have worked in many leadership roles in the past, which include dealing with both children and young adults that has caused me to build a huge amount of patience. I am a very confident and optimistic woman who is very encouraging and will push anyone to their full potential. I am able to adapt to many different situations and able to interact with a wide variety of personalities. I am a very dedicated and passionate person, who puts their all into everything they do. I have mediated conflicts before, as well as delegated for those who have felt they had no voice. I believe I am a very resourceful person because I have currently attended SUNY Oswego for almost three years now, have lived on campus for all of my years and am currently an Oswego tour guide. I am able to point a student or faculty into the direction of any office or location they are looking for which makes me a great resource for information. I feel I am a very responsible person, who can overcome setbacks, and is able to teach based on personal experience.
