Being well-liked and well-respected are both very important facets of being a Resident Assistant (RA). Despite this, for any leader being well-respected is more important than being well-liked. Being well-liked is important when regarding floor events and connecting with your community. This is because if the community likes their RA they will be far more inclined to attend events and communicate with them. This is beneficial for fostering a sense of community amongst residents. However, it is my belief that community events and connectedness are but a secondary factor in the duties of an RA.
