The tone of my writing has definitely changed over my years of being a writer. Although reading has always been my strong subject, I’ve come to love writing. I would describe my standard tone as a mix of using figurative language techniques such as imagery and having a sort of sarcastic diction. I love using figurative language techniques such as imagery because I feel like it makes reading more vivid to the reader. I like to ready books by authors that use imagery because it makes the book like a movie in my mind. My use of imagery has strengthened since the beginning of the tri. A tone that can go along with imagery is sarcasm. I’m a very sarcastic person when you get to know me, and I like to make a joke out of things. I feel as if this shines through my writing also. An example of when I had a sarcastic tone was in the “Analysis of the Dating Process” discussing the steps it takes for a girl to get ready for a date. “Everything usually works for me. Step one: Moisturizer, step two: primer, step three: foundation, step four: concealer, step five: powder, step six: contour, step seven: eyeshadow, step eight: eyeliner, step nine: mascaras, step ten: highlight, step eleven: lipstick, step twelve: setting spray. Just to name a few.” Saying how there was only a few after twelve steps that usually takes me about an hour to an hour and a half to do was being sarcastic. Which helped to make the piece funny because of how it was ironic. Also in “Pet Peeve Analysis” using sarcasm helps to make the piece more uplifting when the topic is about something that personally annoys me. In the example “Get in car. Turn on. Prepare for whatever may soon happen. One, two, three in. One, two, three
