NASA Funding And Research

891 Words4 Pages

In 1969, America landed the first man on the moon. A truly amazing feat for not only America but humans as a whole. It was a demonstration of we can do as humans, a proof that what we set our minds to, we can achieve. Throughout our existence here on earth, we have seen numerous people dream about lands unknown and unseen. Looking up into the night sky and seeing the stars, imagining what would be found if we could reach them. Centuries later, we made it to one. Without numerous advancements in technology and understanding where we are, that small step into the unknown wouldn’t have been possible. Manned missions to Mars satisfies part of our curiosity as well as sparks it. We need to continue the funding and research for a manned mission to …show more content…

Throughout time we have seen numerous innovations, many of these have been to the benefit of private citizens as well as commercially. Examples of this are the breathing apparatus firefighters use to put out fires with and the space blankets to cover runners with after races. Both were designed for NASA to use in missions. Patrick Marshall stated, “The United States has long encouraged private contractors to participate in space programs, developing products according to NASA specifications.” These privately contracted companies used to develop these technologies for NASA are the same companies found on drugstore shelves selling these products to us for our own use. Marshall continued by saying, “NASA's private-sector partners will develop the spacecraft and other equipment themselves, with full ownership of the final product.” By developing products for NASA and the aerospace field, private citizens benefit from these many technologies. Continuing to fund the missions that NASA has, and subsequently space travel to Mars, we, in turn, benefit from the very same technologies that make accomplishing those missions …show more content…

The stuff that is created while attempting such feats are simply advancements for humans altogether. The benefits advancements making this kind of explorations into worlds and places unknown will further advance us as a species to do bigger and better things to not only our world but the other worlds we happen to encounter along the way. Space is the final frontier for us, and there is a lot of space. The calling is for us to explore, and that we must do.
