When a physical, demanding sport collides with a brutal, poverty-stricken town, true character is revealed, and the devastating realities of high school kids are shown to those who live in a sugar-coated world. The Manassas High School football team is full of new talents that are apparently worthless when a different players is shot, imprisoned, or drops out of school on an almost weekly basis. That is just a glimpse inside the misfortune that the kids of this film are enduring day in and day out. Some parentless and some virtually homeless, it seems as if the only way out of a constant state of need is a miracle, or death. Released in 2011, Undefeated has much more to offer than the typical football documentary.
Football is a very popular sport not only in American high schools and colleges, but also in the entire country of the United States. Is playing high school football worth the risk and harm inflicted to high school football players? This is the main question raised by the author, Raymond Schroth, in the article “Abolish High School Football.” In this article, Schroth talked about the disadvantages and harms of playing high school football to the players. Schroth argued that high school football should be abolished because it had contributed more harmful effects than benefits to football players.
The football that we know today started in 1922 when the American Professional Football Association change its name to the National Football League. The team with the best regular season record was the champion. in 1960 a second national football league was started to compete with the NFL. Eventually it ended up the being two conferences to make up the NFL, the American Football Conference and the National Football Conference. The two implemented a system of playoff games and the champions of the two conferences went head to head in a game called the Superbowl.

The novel, The Day the Cowboys Quit, by Elmer Kelton is not a typical cowboy story filled with waving guns and violent fights. Instead, this story shows what the real life of a cowboy would have been like through the story of Hugh Hitchcock. The Day the Cowboys Quit is based on a cowboy strike that occurred in Tascosa, Texas in 1883. Kelton based his fictional story on the causes of the strike and what became as a result of the strike. This paper will explain historical events concerning the cowboys and depict their true lifestyle which contrasts the stereotypes normally associated with being a cowboy, as well as summarize the novel The Day the Cowboys Quit.
I. Introduction A. Attention Graber: For many people there is nothing better on a crisp cool Sunday afternoon, than sitting down and enjoying a good football game. The NFL, hosts usually the football games people watch. Recently, however the NFL has had a huge conflict on its hands regarding player health and safety, specifically regarding repeated head injury and concussions. Research indicates, the NFL has not done enough to protect its players from the damage of repeated head injury B. Ethos Statement:
The Pittsburgh Steelers have arguably the most passionate fan base in all of football, making them a marketing and business giant, however, these key strengths for the Steelers are somewhat counterweighted by their weaknesses. To the naked eye the Steelers really have no stand-out drawbacks, they sell out practically every game at Heinz Field, but when taking a closer in depth look at the organization it appears that the Steelers suffer from the same downfalls as the rest of the National Football League. NFL fans are some of the oldest fans in all of sports, these fans that are of old age will soon not be physically able to go to as many games as they once have, the Steelers have one of the oldest fan demographics. Season tickets are passed
In the beginning of 2005, President George W. Bush was in his second term. There were many crisis occurring during this time, such as terrorist attacks, and the war on Afghanistan and Iraq. These events influenced the speech he gave on January 20th 2005. He spoke of the oncoming war on terror and how democracy and freedom could help solve this imminent war. He believed that the United States of America could stop the war on terror by spreading democracy and the success of the U.S. to countries in need; in order to achieve this goal, the U.S. citizens must support each other.
The Long Christmas Ride Home by Paula Vogel is a play about a family of five, and their experience on Christmas day, as well as the future of the three children. I believe that this was meant to take place in the early-sixties to the late-seventies because of the mother’s housewife role in the play, and the way the grandfather would accept the mistreatment of his own daughter from her husband, but would stand up for the mistreatment of his grandson—a clearly sexist view that would not be accepted in today’s society. Another hint about the time period is that Stephen died from a disease contracted during sex, one that eventually killed him. This makes me think that this was before or during the AIDS epidemic. The children are Rebecca, age twelve,
The era of Football in America is slowly coming to a close. Football has been known as America’s sport next to baseball for many years now. The general physicality of every play isn’t(B3) matched by any other sport on the planet, and that is why football causes more injuries than any other sport on the professional, and youth levels. Parents are pulling their kids from their teams, even in the middle of the season because of the information that has been released over the past decade illuminating a big problem for the game.
The introduction of the piece is the same as that of “The Raiders March”, but with strings playing in the background. The A melody begins with the trumpet as the strings fade out (0:07). The first minute and a half of the song is played the same as that of “The Raiders March”, though due to differing sound equalization, some parts stick out more or less than they do in the original. For example, in the third repetition of the A melody, one can more clearly hear the xylophone accompanying the melody here than in “The Raiders March”. The piece begins to differ more significantly after the break following the third repetition of the A melody when the piece modulates down a half step instead of up like in the original (1:37).
The sport I chose to observe was college football. I decided to chose this sport because football is a sport my family enjoys to watch. Also I enjoy watching football more than any other sport because there is so much that could happen, in football many unexpecting plays could happen, and each game is different than the last one. The game I chose to watch was a college football game between the University of Notre Dame and the University of Miami that took place at the University of Miami on Saturday, November 11, 2017. The game started with Miami kicking the ball to Notre Dame.
Jaycee Fourkiller Our Town by Thornton Wilder is a black and white film that was filmed in the forties. The music was not any type of modern day music that might be in a play that I would normally watch. There were no words in the music, just sounds of the instruments playing or sound effects after the characters did something that might have needed a sound effect at the end of it. One thing that was very different than I've ever seen or heard was that you could heard the film rolling and now a days it is not like that. The play was set to be ran in the forties and that's exactly what it looked and sounded like.
A great example is when the NFL Foundation raised millions of dollars for prominent organizations like the American Cancer Society, battle against breast cancer, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Since 1973, the foundation has also donated around 250 million dollars to youth football programs. (Easterbrook 178) The largest event that produces the most money in football is the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl generates 620 million dollars, and a quarter of this revenue goes towards organizations that support disabled veterans (Murphy 9).
In the early stages of the American Football system, most players had to have a normal day job on top of playing, because there was no money to be made in pro football.” (Two Sides To Every Coin, are Professional Athletes Paid Too Much? BleacherReport.com) Do you know those animal commercials that shows all those pets stranded, hurt, hungry, thirsty that need a home? Well if national athletes weren’t paid so much, money could go toward them instead of relaxing on a couch with food and popcorn while animals and people suffer and in some circumstances,
