(AGG) Throughout the book “Under The Persimmon tree Najmah faces many losses that cause her to change at the end. (BS-1) The loss of Najmah’s family causes loss of voice and control. (BS-2 The losses she faced caused her to regain hope and make a plan to travel to Pakistan. (BS-3) Loss helped Najmah regain her voice and make her end overall decision. (TS) The losses Najmah had to face in the story under the Persimmon tree have shaped how she turned out to be at the end of the book. (MIP-1) Due to the family losses Najmah inhabited, she lost the capability to speak, and control over her own decisions. (SIP-A) Najmah losing her identity as Shaheed caused her to begin to talk. (STEWE-1) Nusrat was conversing with Najmah to get to know her better and figure out her story. Nusrat suddenly begins to mention how she knew Najmah was a girl. “But it is very dangerous for you to pretend you're a boy.”(194). Out of confusion and Najmah’s loss of pretending to be Shaheed she spoke for the first time in a while “How did you know.” says Najmah, her voice a hoarse whisper.” (194). Nusrat explained it was because of the identical calluses that Najmah had on her hands in the same spots as Nusrat from doing girls work. “She opens her own hand and shows Najmah her own calluses in identical places on her fingers.” (194). (STEWE-2) at first Najmah's speaking was quiet and sounded strange “The Taliban forced my brother to fight with them,”(207). Najmah says in a husky voice.” But as Najmah had continued to speak, her voice developed back into its normal form and Najman Had completely regained her voice back. (SIP-B) once Najmah regains her voice she makes her decision to go back home after the loss of her family she has faced. (STEWE-1) Nusrat has made her decision she wants to go back to New York, but she would like Najmah to accompany her. “I've been thinking how different your life would be if you came with me to America.” (238). Najmah knew that she wanted to go back home, but she did not want to tell Nusrat so soon. “She has so much pain. I do not want to give her more so I nod yes, to say I will think about it.” (240). (STEWE-2) Najmah has made her decision to go home because of the loss of her father. “It was our father's last wish that we should keep our farm from the hands of the Taliban or uncle.” (256).
