Nancy's mother had died when she was just 9, they never told her the cause of her death. Nancy's father did not want to see his only child suffer knowing what caused the mothers death. At the age of 10 she began to learn the ways of wife duty. Nancy would clean the house, cook before her dad had arrived from work, had to wash the clothing and ironed her father’s shirt before he went to work as well as prepare him his breakfast.
