Napoleon dominated the European battlefields during his pre-1809 reign as France’s emperor. The French military genius overwhelmed inferior military opponents with innovative maneuvers of mass armies, total war supported with French nationalism, and rapid decisive military victories. Following 1809, Napoleon’s military successes faded as he stubbornly applied French Revolution-era military strategies against present enemy forces of equal strength and tactical adeptness.
Another example of Napoleon going to extreme lengths to show off his supremacy was in document three where he is depicted as riding a horse in the spotlight (Document 3). The picture portrays Napoleon after crossing the Alps and defeating the Austrian army. His composed demeanor while riding a wild, rearing horse shows how he is bringing control to a post Revolutionary France. In summary, Napoleon was more of an imperial dictator than a democratic reformer because he was hungry for
His ego, combined with his military skills, enabled him to defeat opposing armies. Napoleon once said, "It is said that I love power. Well, does anyone have any cause for complaint? Never have the prisons been so empty (crime has been so low) and the people so safe" (Document
When Napoleon achieved totalitarianism, the comrades were subjected to forced labor exploitation. Just like with the former leader, they barely had enough food to eat and were poorly cared for. Napoleon appealed to the naive realism of the comrades leading to the mobilization of the farm to pursue his goal of becoming more
These three reasons are why animals were too scared to overthrow him and to be free from his rule. One example of how Napoleon stays in charge is Animalism. Animalism was meant to be set in place keeping any animal from having more power than the others. Napoleon uses this to his advantage by having a basic first set of commandments which is “reduced to… ‘Four legs good, two legs bad.’
He led the French army to many victories from the time he became a commander, and later a general, in the army. These victories include wars in northern Italy and Egypt against the nations who declared
Napoleon Bonaparte emerged from the chaos that divided France and threw much of Europe into turmoil. This man would lead the nation as an emperor. He brought peace to France, but his desire to conquer new lands and his military genius entangled Europe in a long, bloody war that would be called the Napoleonic Wars. As the
In George Orwell's Animal Farm, Napoleon, a pig leader that represents Stalin from the Russian Revolution plays a big role in the book as the pig leaders are a superior group among the population of Animal Farm. In the story Napoleon is representing Stalin in Animal Farm as the main leader after Mr.Jones is ran out of the farm and Old Major died, resembling how Stalin took over rising to power in Russia. Napoleon started as a seemingly good leader but that soon changed… Napoleon, just like Stalin started to have problems with citizens of their own community and tried to hurt people and take things away. Both leaders can be shown using their superiority and power to their advantage to get everything they wanted and felt was necessary.
Only puppies and pigs can live in the house, sleep in the bed, eat apples and cookies and have all of the best things. As the history is developing, Napoleon is getting more and more like a dicator. He slowly begin to being superior but did not act like a dictator. Moreover, he broke some rules, he’s in contact with humans, and he had hours of works, and he killed aniamsl, and change the only commandment for “4 legs good, 2 legs better”. He also think that “Every animals are equal, but some are more equal then others.”
He was a very strong military general, and he extended France power with his “Great Army”. He had brilliant strategies, which helped him win many of his battles such as in Austerlitz and Ulm. He tried to unite Europe, under one French Empire. Napoleon built bridges and canals, that made it easier for people to trade. Some might think that Napoleon took it way too far by attacking Russia which caused him losing a huge amount of his army.
He gains power well and uses it to control not only animals’ physical actions but also emotion, making them think they are happy. I believe that the dictatorship continues forever. After a while, some animals that are a little smarter than others will realise Napoleon is dictating them and start the Rebellion again only to always come back to exact same
Napoleon made a substantial impact on the way the animals reacted to their new hardships. The pigs, including Napoleon, are said to be the most intelligent animals on the farm, but unlike the others, Napoleon uses it to manipulate the
Napoleon’s initial desire to rule the Farm grows into a monstrous greed for power which is what brings destruction to the corrupted society of Animal Farm. His foolish pursuit to obtain more increasingly becomes destructive just as the capacity does to increase. The greed has taken over him and tempts him to lie in order to obtain everything he desires. He drives Snowball out of power to keep the power all to himself, separates himself from the commoners to officialise his high status within the Animal Farm, kills Boxer to acquire money for whiskey, and adapts human idiosyncrasies in order to prove that Napoleon and the pigs are more superior and can control the commoners to obtain anything that they
In the book, Napoleon’s power could of been used for the greater good, but he decided to use it for the opposite. Most of the time when someone has a lot of power they can abuse it and “if [they] can abuse [their] power [they] have too much" (Rubin). During the Rebellion it was good that the pigs stepped up and took leadership. Although, Napoleon shouldn’t of had as much as he did and it wasn’t right of him to kick out Snowball just to get more fame on the farm. There’s always going to be at least one person in our lifetime that gets obsessed with the attention and starts to abuse all the power they have to receive more, even if it isn’t the correct thing to do.
He appeared to be opposed to humans in power. At the end of the story, he became one of the humans. Napoleon is an antagonist because his views are conflicting with the rest of the animals, except for the pigs. His views are opposing the other animals ' views about humans in
