Avalanche “Ring, ring” It was a Friday afternoon and school bell had just gone off and was finishing up a test in math that I had no clue what it was about. My dad was sitting in the front seat of his pearl white SUV and was out front calling my name. As I walked down the sidewalk towards the car and could feel the cold winter day hitting me like a train. The brisk air made me feel like I was freezing. The temperature was about negative twenty degrees celsius. Me and my friend Chris were both on the football team and both had just turned sixteen not to long ago. I had just got my driver 's license and had planned for me and Chris to go on a skiing trip this weekend for fun. “Hey bud” Dad yelled. I didn 't know what to say at first because I was shocked that Chris said no so fast. “Didn 't hear what happened last year at that ski hill,” Chris yelled. I didnt think about what happened last year at the old Yellowknife sik hill. Apparently these two kids named Alex and Will were skiing there and a huge blizzard cam by aand swept them down the hill in a avalanche and they got buried in the snow and suffocated and were not found until last summer. “I don 't want that to happen to us.” Chris said worried. I told him not to worry about it because I would be checking the weather and making sure the conditions were safe. Anyway the chance of that happening in to us is like one in million. I finally convinced Chris about going and told him not to worry. We packed our bags and got our stuff together. I told my parents that we were going to go skiing over at some local ski hill for the weekend so they wouldn 't worry. The reason why we want to go Yellowknife instead of the local hill here in Whitehorse is because of how busy and small the ski hill were and that we would have a better time in
