From growing up in a church, to assisting in murdering her husband, to being addicted to drugs and alcohol, to starting an organization that saves women from prostitution; Katarina has had a wild life. Two years ago I had the opportunity to listen to a former prostitute share her story of redemption. She went through the events of her life, leaving a powerful impact on everyone who was present to hear her speak. I will never forget her story because it was one of the first stories that I have heard and it was the beginning of my passion to see an abolition of human trafficking in the sex industry. My dream job would be to go from high school to high school raising awareness for how pornography fuels the sex industry, and I think that the most powerful way to do this would be to tell the stories of women who have been personally affected by the sex industry. Stories engage an audience by inviting them into a world that is not their own. One way to tell a story is to “blow the breath of life back into it” , this highlights the importance of taking something that has already happened and telling it in a way that makes it seems as though it is the presence. When telling the stories of women who have been personally affected by the sex industry, I envision myself inviting high schoolers to put themselves in the shoes of these women and to imagine what it would be like. I strongly believe that stories are a gateway to engaging an audience. Imagine telling the story of a woman who was forced to film pornographic content, so that a student could watch it for their entertainment. I strongly agree with Kuyvenhoven when she says, “Less emphasis is on the life teaching is in the story, imaginative experience and the personal learning taken from the story” . If I simply say that to how every time someone watches porn they are increasing the demand
