Literacy Narrative Essay

My audience for this literacy narrative essay is relatively small and young, with a total of 14 persons. The males surpass the girls greatly by three – six girls and eight males. They are between the ages of 17 and 22 years old. Ten persons are 18 years old, two persons are 19 years old, one person is 17 years old and one person is 22 years old. However, the average age of this audience is 18 years and 4 months. Majority of the audience are of American decent – 12 American students and 2 Chinese students. The predominant school class represented is freshman. There are 13 freshmen and only 1 sophomore. Only two female students are enrolled in the same major, which is Pre Nursing. A young familiar tone is the way to go considering the age range of this audience. Firstly, I am the only Caribbean person in this class so much background information and definitions will be needed when talking about me or my Caribbean slangs. From previous conversations with the audience, it would be best for this information to be in small words. Many persons will not be able to relate to my Caribbean background therefore, I plan to start by finding a common ground with the use of examples that everyone should be able to relate to. For example, many of the artists that the audience mentioned often tell stories in their songs. Stories that can give many young people of all nationalities ideas when writing. This has helped me when writing different papers on a mandatory topic. I was able to get ideas from someone who actually went through something I probably didn’t. Afterwards, from the examples used, I plan to bring the audience to my viewpoint – a young Caribbean writer. I am also a fan of many of the artists that the audience mentioned. This gave me a hint as to what type figurative language the audience would rather since many of these artist greatly use figurative language in their songs. The audience wouldn’t have favor these artists if they didn’t favor their figurative language. For example, many young persons between the ages of 17 and 22 would smile when
