Nathan Leopold Nathan Leopold, along with his lover, Richard Loeb, were prominently one of the most popular criminal duos of the 20th century. In 1924, the two were obsessed with committing the most perfect crime. Leopold was born into a wealthy family living in Chicago, Illinois. As a very intelligent boy, he mastered many classes quickly; furthermore, he was troubled in the social category. None of Leopold’s peers seemed to want anything to do with him. Whenever his family moved to a more secluded neighborhood in Chicago, he began to attend a private school. Just for months following the murder, they were both convicted of murdering 14 year old Bobby Franks and received the life sentence and an additional 99 years due to the kidnapping. The relationship between the two dwindled within the duration of their time at the penitentiary. In 1936, Loeb was savagely assaulted by his cellmate. Loeb had apparently made sexual advances towards the roomie. Leopold was granted parole at a later date, where he fled to Puerto Rico. He continued his mastery of education by becoming a teacher at the University of Puerto Rico. He continued his legacy by publishing a book. After these major accomplishments, he married a widow. Ten years after marrying Trudi de Queveda he died of a heart attack related to his diabetes problem. Often, it is forgotten that Leopold did die a free man. Although, he did fix his concentration on performing the perfect crime. Together, Leopold and Loeb murdered fourteen year old Bobby Frank. This goes down as one of the many of brutal murder scenes of the 1900s.
