Nationalism is an important factor of many nations because it is what keeps many people from leaving a country ad gives them the sense of pride and patriotism. Many countries believe in different forms of a nation like a civic nation is multicultural and adapts to a different form of culture and tradition. There is also an ethnic nation which is a very closed and shares the same ethnicity, culture, and language. Some of the most important factors that I believe form a nation is National symbols because it is what represents a nation in many different events or celebrations within a country/nation. People may not realize the hundreds of men and women that have died to protect their rights and freedoms and the symbol of the country. The Maple Leaf of Canada, for example, is a symbol that all Canadians know and it has gone through a long journey to be on the flag of Canada. The maple leaf may be known as just a leaf but it represents the 10 species that are native to Canada, today the maple is accepted as the symbol of Canada and has been worn by many sports teams including hockey which is the national sport of Canada, soccer, and it is even on the Canadian Arm, which is in outer space and is connected to the ISS and is used for many missions. National symbols go much deeper than just representing ous as a country but it is what makes ous separate from other nations showing our independence and creating a verbal, visual, or iconic representation of the nation of people which may symbolize our goals, history, and values. These symbols are rallied during special events such as Independence Day and separation movements this inspires a sense of patriotism and nationalism in a country. Historical events and the important characters that may have participated in these events are all around ous that we may not realize for example money which may have presidents or important leader of the revolution. The French Revolution happened because of a group of people that were tired of the king and didn 't want to be the “subject” of the the king they wanted to be the citizens of the country and serve their own nation this is what sparked the notion of nationalism. Today France is a country full of nationalism and equality and has given equal right to all citizen of the country, also they do not raise the flag of the king instead they raise the flag of the people of the country representing everyone this is the result of the french revolution not forgetting the thousands of people that died fighting for their freedoms. The French flag represents the colors red, white, and blue which represent liberty, equality and fraternity (ideas of the French Revolution).
