Americans today tend to believe that the interaction between the Europeans and native people has shaped the new world. Historians believe that Europeans discovery of the new world have impacted the way we function as a society today. The two historic documents that stresses on the significance of these people are “Document three and Document seven”. Document three on the hand emphasis Christopher Columbus’s discovery of the West Indies. In his writing Christopher Columbus speaks of the West Indies, the islands that is filled with resources.
Does the BIA Really Enhance the Quality of Native American Life? Although the United States is arguably one of the most progressed democracies globally, certain aspects of the government’s institutions need attention. An institution is a broad term that accounts for the Electoral College, news outlets, education, economy, and most specifically, the legislative, judicial, and executive branches. Informally, the bureaucracy is considered an institution since it is necessary in executing policy throughout the country.
Humans have been fighting wars and conquering each other since they set foot on this world. We fight like dogs and cats, taking each other's wealth, land, and power, yet we still say it is wrong to take something away from someone. Why is it wrong for the Americans to take the Native American's land when the Native Americans take other people's lands too? Whether the land is yours or not depends solely on how strong your army is and how large your land is. If Whites developed more advanced weaponry, better battle strategies, and were more determined than the Native people already on the land, then the land they take belongs to them.
An ethical issue related to medical care is pain management and the inappropriate judgment of patients being labeled as “Drug Seeking”. There are statistics that prove there is a rise in abuse in opiates within communities. However, at what point does the nurse or provider get to decide what is an adequate pain threshold and how much they should endure? When does the ethical duty to relieve pain and suffering subside to personal biases?
1. Aztecs: There wasn’t a group called "Aztecs" until the Mexica allied with two nearby states. They moved into central valley during a political crisis but flourished once they started building Tenochtitlan in 1325. Aztecs where a dominant military player; they had a violent army that forced taxes on neighbors, conversions and labor. Being surrounded by "floating gardens" is what flourished their economy as well as their agriculture.
Native Americans, French, Spanish, and English The Native Americans were the first to settle in America. Their culture was developed more for survival than enjoyment. They migrated from the area that is known as Asia. There were many different tribes located in America.
One night in 1890, the Sioux were performing their native ritual, the Ghost Dance. Out of nowhere a group of American soldiers destroyed the Sioux’s peace by opening fire in the middle of this ritual and brutally murdering dozens of innocent Sioux members. This bloody massacre happened because of Westward Expansion. When Thomas Jefferson bought Louisiana territory from the French government for $18 million, it started the United States on this path toward expansion. The Louisiana Purchase spread from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains and from Canada to New Orleans.
They exchanged many things, such as physical items and information, and cultural exchanges. These exchanges were everywhere, and there is no specific event or person involved. These contributions include the areas of agriculture, food, language, and also government. In the areas of agriculture, the Natives being skilled farmers, have taught valuable farming techniques to the early newcomers on many crops.

However, due to the population increase in Europe, the European migrated to America in seek of land for farming, settlement, and spread their religion (Desai, n.p). Respect is a big part of our lives still. Although the presence of many of the virtuous Native American values is very meager today, this one still exists as a miniscule glimmer across our lives. One must have respect for others to first have respect for themselves. You make a choice of how people will see you: as a incorrigible person, or as a respectful person. People will usually treat you accordingly.
After reviewing the reading, it’s very clear that the southern colonies would be the best place to settle. I would become a farmer because of the business of it. To be more exact I would live in Virginia even though Carolina happen to be more smart when it came to basically everything else than any other colonie. Most importantly why I would chose to be here is because they had access to the cash crops of the time, Tobacco. It allowed the lowest of society to become something and to become very wealthy.
During the late 15th and early 16th centuries, eExplorers from Europe had made vast advancements on traveling methods and shipbuilding and had new methods to travel the world. Due to needs for faster trade routes or access to new markets, most powers, starting with Portugal, had started sending Explorers to find different ways to trade and navigate. This would eventually lead them to the New World where they would meet people of different culture. Explorers during this period have many positive and negative effects on the natives. Europeans indirectly killed off native with diseases, enslaved natives with cruel slave methods, and tried to completely erase the native cultures in place of the typical European cultures and religion.
At the time many people were very deep rooted racists. They didn't like that other people that didn't follow their ruling or look like them could have all that untouched land when they needed it for better things. They also were very easy to manipulate, which was the down fall for many that just agreed to so much bad things other were doing, just because they knew how to manipulate them many people got played at that time. The rasicm at the time was unbelivable and it wasn't just blacks taking all of it.
Although Native Americans are characterized as both civilized and uncivilized in module one readings, their lifestyles and culture are observed to be civilized more often than not. The separate and distinct duties of men and women (Sigard, 1632) reveal a society that has defined roles and expectations based on gender. There are customs related to courtship (Le Clercq, 1691) that are similar to European cultures. Marriage was a recognized union amongst Native Americans, although not necessarily viewed as a serious, lifelong commitment like the Europeans (Heckewelder, 1819). Related to gender roles in Native American culture, Sigard writes of the Huron people that “Just as the men have their special occupation and understand wherein a man’s duty consists, so also the women and girls keep their place and perform quietly their little tasks and functions of service”.
Most Americans don't know very much about the culture or history of Native Americans, making them one of the most misunderstood groups in the United States. The responsibility of the public school system to educate the public about Native American cultures is largely to blame for this absence. Since Native Americans are so geographically and culturally separated, they have limited access to information. If you want to get to know people better and more deeply, stereotyping is not the way to go. Native Americans supposedly prefer being referred to as "Native Americans," but this is up for debate.
