The Use of Propaganda by the Reich
We all know and have experienced propaganda in our lives, in the most discrete of ways by companies trying to get us to buy their merchandise, or in this case, political leaders trying to convince us to support them. According to Webster, propaganda is, “ideas or statements that are often false or exaggerated and that are spread in order to help a cause, political leader, a government, etc.” However, no one has used propaganda to convince their people of an idea in the most notorious fashion as the National Socialist German Workers' Party, also known as the Nazi Party.

For example, Julius Streicher published a newspaper called Der Stürmer, which means The Stormtrooper in German, which carried propaganda messages that slowly gained popularity throughout Germany. Eventually, a division of the newspaper published a children’s book called Der Giftpilz, this is German for The Poisonous Mushroom (Propaganda and Media). In this book, it had vicious messages against the Jews and had “warnings” for the children. These messages implied heavily that Jews molest children, are for spreading Communism, and even the ones to blame for the death of Jesus Christ. For example, it appealed to the children in one story where a League of German Girls scout was sick and her mother wanted to take her to a Jewish Doctor but managed to escape with the things she learned in the league (Der Giftpilz). The reason why they began to appeal to the children was because of Nazism is going to last, they needed to spread their ideals to the next generation.
