ndividualism and collectivism: America, as a whole, is a very individualistic country. Most Americans are more concerned with what happens to themselves rather than to America. We, as Americans, believe that we have certain inalienable rights, such as the right to life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness, that should be protected and that we can live our lives how we see fit. (Biddle, 2014). I believe as a person works to better themselves, society profits from it as well so while we are an individualistic country, we also help the whole by helping ourselves. According to forbes.com, America has 540 billionaires “with a combines net worth of $2.399 trillion”. (Sola & Canal, 2016). With that kind of wealth in America, and that is not even counting the millionaires, I do believe that if we were a more humane oriented society that number of homeless people would be much less. Just with those figures, each homeless person could have well over four million dollars. Niblock starts out by stating that Lowe’s is one of the home improvement leaders and that certain responsibilities come with that title. He goes on to state that they needed to step up how they help support the needs of their customers, communities and employees. In the next five paragraphs he begins with a strong statement and then backs it up with facts that are well stated with no redundancy. B: The target audience for this message is quite large. He is basically trying to cover everyone when he says his customers, communities, and employees. He does a good job of not giving too much attention to one group over another. The message clearly states facts showing what they have done for each group and doesn’t insert unnecessary information. I can not think of any way to make it better adapted for the audience. C: This message is all about positivity. The writer did a great job showing examples that the company has made a positive influence for people. In each paragraph he gives facts on projects that the company has initiated to help people. Such as in the third paragraph when he points out that they sent buses across the country to provide free health screens for their
