The most important one that will get her where she wants to be in life, is graduating college and getting her RN. She knows that having a steady job with steady income is very important, so of course she is going to move up in the health care field. This leads me to her second goal which is becoming a Nurse Anesthetist. It has to deal with anesthesiology and she is super excited to start helping people recover. Her last goal is to work at UAMS.
20 years ago sitting in front of a panel of instructors for a Licensed Practical Nursing program entrance interview I was asked a question where do you see yourself in 15 years? I replied that I would be doing a doctorate in Nursing. I feel that the different roles in various levels of Nursing from being a Certified Nursing Assistant to the nurse I am today have since molded my decision to pursue a DNP in Nursing Administration and this program is the right fit for me. I want to become a Nurse Leader at the cutting edge of developing advancements in education methods for disease prevention in various patient populations while serving with integrity.
Being an LPN was one of the milestones for me to become an RN. As a student right now I will follow the same path as I did as an LPN because it was effective for me, as a result I was able to complete the course and obtain my LPN license . As a parent, a student, I had to take into consideration the well being of my family while I was trying to become a nurse. Since nursing was my career goal, I had found ways to balance family and school. As a student I know the importance of studying and completing school works in a timely manner.
Going into high school, I set lofty goals and standards for myself. Currently, I am working towards acceptance into the nursing program at the University of Iowa and am on track to become a Nurse Anesthetist.
I am a firm believer that in order to be happy and successful, you need to have a job that you love to do. This ideology is what motivated me to want to become a nurse practitioner and help the people in my community. Attending California State University, Los Angeles is allowing me to pursue my academic goal of getting into the nursing program. I aspire to get my bachelors of science in nursing to be able to become a registered nurse. After gaining experience as a registered nurse, I will pursue a master of science in nursing to become a nurse practitioner.
Purpose- By reasoning, I have come to the decision that going back to college is an important goal in my life. Furthermore, to advance in my career I need to further my education. Reasoning in my thinking is what allows me to have goals or purpose in life, also it helps me than figure out how to achieve the goal. My purpose (goal) in life is to be a nurse. I have decided to pursue nursing and apply for the second degree accelerated nursing program; I consider myself a highly motivated individual with a value of strong work ethic. My Intent to Be a Nurse Practitioner Coming from a third world country where there aren’t many opportunities for work and funding for education, proceding to nursing school was a grand opportunity. The privilege to attend a government subsidized school where top students in the region compete to get into the program that allowed only 60 students per year was indeed a blessing. As a first generation student to attend college from a family of seven, the journey to a higher education has been arduous and overwhelming.
