A Need To Compete Just as clothing, food, and style trends change, popularity of celebrities has its own cycle. Celebrities go through different periods of popularity all throughout their careers. Athletes filter through a system that works like how a coach picks their most valuable player. Who is the best that game, day, month, year, etc. Picking a favorite athlete is heavily influenced by their performance on and off the field. Everyone has their own idea of what defines success.
