GENERATION LIKE Celebrities and social media have become one in the same. Social media has helped fans communicate with celebrities and vice versa. In order to understand the communication that occurs between these two groups we must first identify just what is a fan and what is a celebrity, A celebrity is defined as someone of fame and is well known, versus a fan who is someone who supports this famous individual. Celebrities build fan bases by playing character roles, addressing issues of concern alike to that of the fans, etc. Celebrities often use social media to communicate and update their fans on upcoming events or just the life of that celebrity. An endorsement by a another reputable brand increases sales due to loyalty to the initial brand, that being the celebrity. On social media we see celebrity endorsements contantly. Musicians often wear a particular brand in a picture, where it just so happens to be noticeable. Though the celebrity may not specifically point out the brand, it is often very likely the celebrity is being paid to endorse that brand or product. Celebrity endorsements are not always paid, but in most cases they seem to be. The lack of initial straightforwardness of a celebrity makes it difficult to distinguish between a paid endorsement and an unpaid endorsement, unless they clearly state that they are not being …show more content…

The reason my social media use is limited is due to my focus on my studies, but honestly the constant need to update the world on your life never appealed to me; it may also be due to my lack of a following, hahaha!
