He was born into the Xhosa tribe, his father Gadla Henry Mphakanyiswa was chief of the tribe. Nelson Mandela went to schools like the University of South Africa, the University of Witwatersrand, University of Fort Hare, and University of London. Many things happened in his education like, he was expelled from University of Fort Hare, a leading institution for blacks, for role in a student strike. He received BA from Fort Hare after completing correspondence courses through University of South Africa. Now we will talk about events in his “Path to Adulthood”. Nelson Mandela was a great leader even before he fought against the apartheid and the poverty around South Africa. Nelson Mandela participated in a student strike whilst attending Fort Hare. Mandela lead the Defiance Campaign encouraging people to fight against the racial segregation laws. Nelson mandela achieved many things as well as the title of the first black president of South africa. Africans lined up, even waited for days just to vote for Nelson Mandela to be the first black president of South Africa. He was finally elected in 1994, after all of his hard work fighting for equality between south africans and afrikaans. One year after his election he married his third wife, Graca Mandela. When he resigned from presidency in 1999, Thabo Mbeki became president. After leaving office, Mandela continued to lend his tireless support to the fight against social injustice and poverty in South
