1. New Belgium Brewing is working to address the issue of large carbon emissions from energy production. The NBB has put their time together with their employees to diminish the carbon emission that the business produces. Other environmental areas that New Belgium Brewing works to address is its waste water and physical waste generated in its production process. New Belgium Brewing became the country’s first brewery to purchase 100% of its electricity from wind power in 1999 (New Belgium Sustainability, 2017). New Belgium Brewery has taken many strives towards helping with environmental issues. The three R’s of environmental Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle are taken seriously at NBB. Our group agrees in part, with one dissenting opinion . In 2015, New Belgium Brewing was listed as the one of the top 10 best companies by Certified B Corporations. This listing gets the New Belgium Brewing brand name in front of like-minded individuals that will reward these environmental practices with their business (Morgan, 2015). NBB sponsors a number of events focusing on “human- powered” sports that cause minimal damage to the natural environment, such as the Tour de Fat which promotes sustainable transportation. New Belgium’s focus on social responsibility gives it a competivitive edge over other manufacturers by making the community’s interests a priority for the corporation.
