This is one of the many measures passed by congress and started by President Franklin Roosevelt in an attempt to help the nation get back up from the Great depression. The National Industrial Recovery Act was a weird experiment in our history; it stopped antitrust laws and was for the alliance of industries. Under the National Industrial Recovery Act, all company's were forced to write codes industry wide of fair competition that easily helped prices and wages, making production quotas, and placed hard restrictions

President Franklin Roosevelt told congress for the act which he called patriotic. Roosevelt had become President of the United States of America in 1932 in the middle of the Great Depression, the United States worst economic crisis. The Social Security Act was in with his New Deal program which was supposed to help the country get out of the great Depression. He also put in the establishment of the works progress administration and the civilian conservation corps. This is trying to bring America out of the great depression by making America go back to work. In a statement to the public, Franklin Roosevelt showed a concern for” young people who have come to wonder what would be their lot when they came to old age” even with all the people who had no job security but employment. Even though he knew that the people could never be insured a hundred percent of the population going against the same percentage of hazards of life. He was hoping that this act would help all the senior citizens from becoming homeless and stay healthy. This act was created to combat unemployment; Social Security now is used primarily for a safety net for all the disabled and retirees. The act help give death benefits to tax payers. The act was a piece of landmark of legislation that had a very strong influence on the labor movement in the United States. The Fair Labor Standards Act set for nationwide standards of organizations for employees to engage in commerce, public agencies, and size of certain operations. This act is still active today. The act affects millions of part time workers in the private sector and the state, local, and the federal governments. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, the very first minimum wage was created which was about 25 cents a hour. The hours of work a week that you could work was limited to 44 hours, in 1940 it was changed to 40 hours a week is a very low number. Standards were created to keep all the records of hours of work so no one went over the hours and got paid more then he or she needed to be paid. The standards allowed employers to keep track of all their workers and all the people that worked overtime so he or she could be paid the right amount at the end of the week. The thing that the Fair Labor Standards Act did was ban child labor. Any kid that was under the age of fourteen was no longer able to work, but there was a exception made for the agricultural industry and some family business. All the children under the age of eighteen were restricted from all the hazardous jobs, such as some factory jobs and mining. This ban decreased all the accidents to children tremendously.
