New technology can often be disruptive on some people like students or even teachers. Now, thanks to digitization, a lot of people won’t hand write like they use to. Nowadays formal writing is almost always ignored and it is because of digitization. Technology is winning the battle here. We are losing the ability to write by hand and thinking by ourselves. According to Marisa A. Klages and J. Elizabeth Clark in their article" New Worlds of Errors and Expectations: Basic Writers and Digital Assumptions", Nearly half of all students are placed in basic writing. They are uncomfortable with writing and experience high levels of writing anxiety in academic situations. They have little or no confidence in their writing, reading, and critical thinking abilities. Every year there is a new technology that comes up, and it will surely help by making everything easier, but there are consequences of using those different technologies. The technology most of the time will think for you and do everything for you. For example, Siri is an app in the IPhone that does almost anything you want or by just asking. According to Apple, Siri is “the intelligent personal assistant that helps you get things done just by asking. For example, if everybody uses their smartphones or laptops in the classroom for learning purposes, it will help them significantly to be successful. However, a lot of students use their different technology for different purposes and most of them are not for learning purposes. A study showed that students who are using technology for learning purposes only are more likely to receive higher grades.
