Nick Carraway In The Great Gatsby

Nick Carraway is the narrator of the story and in turn is also the voice of F. Scott Fitzgerald. With his level headedness, and reserved judgement, Nick is a perfect confidant for Gatsby and Daisy. While Nick is in the story, he tries to write about the events around him. He came from a midwestern state to a large city to live life and so he did. Through his eyes one sees the opulence and grandeur that hides an empty shell of the upper class. At the end of the book, when Gatsby dies, one can finally see Nick’s true character: a loyal friend. Gatsby was larger than life while he lived, but when it came time to say goodbye to him, only four people made an appearance: the Minister, his father: Mr. Gatz, Nick, and the Owl Eyed Man.
