Nobody Owens. That is the name of the young, sharp-witted, oblivious, main character in The Graveyard Book, but the thing is, is it? The inhabitants of the graveyard and the reader know the mousy haired boy as Bod, but his biological family wouldn’t call him that due to “Bod” not being his actual birth name. Ordinary readers might not contemplate that it’s a big deal, but here’s the thing. It is. If Neil Gaiman had pronounced to reveal Bod's real name than the story could have been drastically alternated negatively. Silas and the ghosts were smart and knew that the man, Jack would keep records if Bod’s name had popped up on the map somewhere, but the graveyard folks thought ahead and renamed him making it twice as hard to find “Bod.” Bod’s
