BEAVER DAMS (WENY) - With not even $10 in the bank, the members at the Full Gospel Church Caitlin, in Beaver Dams, took it upon themselves to build a new parsonage. For the past eleven years Reverend Patrick Neyman, his wife Petrice and four-year-old Patrick, of the Full Gospel Church Caitlin, in Beaver Dams, have been living in not the most ideal situation. I have read the chapters 1-27 in the book Insurgent, in the beginning Tris and Tobias were on their way away from the city and away from the erudite, who were taking control. After they find out that the erudite are searching for them, they decide to take a train back to the center of the city and stay in the warehouse with a bunch of other divergent.
“The Cask of Amontillado” is a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe. In The Cask of Amontillado one of the main characters named Montressor wanted to get revenge on Fortunado, another main character. Montresor wanted revenge on Fortunado because Fortunado hurt him in 1,000 ways. Montresor leads Fortunado down into the catacombs so he can make his revenge final, which is killing him. When Fortunado gets down there, Montressor walls him up and Fortunado dies.
In Harper Lee’s novel To kill a Mockingbird she show the significance of protecting those who cannot protect themselves. Tom Robinson is an african-american man who needs protection because he lives in Maycomb, Alabama and white people think that he is lesser than they are and that all african-americans lie. Arthur Radley or Boo is a recluse and a hermit. He need to be defended because he is not social, he stays inside his house all day and is made fun of by everyone in Maycomb. Scout Finch is the daughter of Atticus and is a young child.
A breeze picks up as Santiago asks the wind for help. The wind argues that Santiago differs too much from it but Santiago contends that he desires to reach all corners of the world just like the wind. The wind understands but doesn’t know what to do. Santiago tells the wind that love can empower it to do anything. The wind feels like Santiago demeans what it already knows how to do.
Everyone has been a mockingbird at least once in their life. In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the characters Arthur “Boo” Radley, Jeremy “Jem” Finch and Tom Robinson all represent mockingbirds in different ways. Boo represents one because he will be judged if he leaves his house. Jem is an example of one also, because he realizes as he grows up that the town he lives in is racist and judgemental. Tom is another example because the Ewells take advantage of his life to get away with their own.
Throughout the novel, the submission by Amy Waldman, many characters act on stereotypes on the misconceptions about faith, causing Mo and Asma to negotiate their identity. Mohammad Khan, Mo, is a second-generation Muslim. He grew up only knowing America. His Islamic heritage is always being questioned. For example in chapter 23, when Alyssa Spier, a reporter for the New York Post, stated “by entering the competition, […] it offended so many Americans,” (294) which he flat out responded with, “I am an American.”
From the beginning, Jim Casy seemed to be a pointless character, an extra, someone with little purpose to the plot of the story. He isn’t mentioned very often and doesn’t have any distinguishable characteristics. However, Casy ends up being an incredibly important character in John Steinbeck’s novel, The Grapes of Wrath. Casy used to be a preacher for a church, in fact, it was the same church the main characters attended.
