I clicked “New” and began. Immediately, a blank page appeared and was ready for me type in. I started working on a project for my C++ programming class. The instructions of the project seemed simple; I had to create an interface for a vending machine. To some people, this sounds difficult, but to me, its a problem waiting to be solved. The only outlier of this assignment was the program had to shut down when a specific phrase was entered. After coding in the variables and the logic statements, my project was almost complete and the last step was to implement the shutdown mechanism. I had been working on this project for three days and thought it was going to be completed on the fourth. On the following day, I started coding the phrase shutdown section. After thirty minutes of typing and thinking, I pressed compile. To my surprise, a window appeared and waited for my input. The window appearing meant that I didn’t have any errors in my code. I tested the program, and entered in the shutdown phrase. When I did, the program stopped and the window disappeared. It was then that I knew even though my code was correct, the logic was flawed. The next day, I came home from school and found my step-dad in his office. Wondering why he was home, I asked “Aren’t you supposed to be at work?”. “No, was working on something and decided to take a break ”. Once he said that, I too, decided to take a break from my assignment. After spending time away from the project, I went on my patio and began brainstorming a new way to shutdown the program. Suddenly, a new idea popped into my head and I quickly coded it into the program. Nervously, I pressed compile and I entered the shutdown phrase into the black window. To my surprise, the program shut down and my assignment was complete. Instantly, a burst of excitement came over me, and I was proud of myself for completing the
