“Winnie, are you ready for the math midterm today?” questioned my friend Vivian. I gave her an ‘of-course-I’m-ready’ glance and strolled to my seat. The bell soon rang and our teacher, Mrs. Valise waltzed into the classroom wearing a bright red floral dress that reminded me of fresh picked apples from a farm. She sauntered over to her desk and took the intimidatingly large pile of the test booklets from her table and handed them out. Receiving the midterm from her hand and I started it immediately, but to my misfortune I realized that there were multiple problems that I had no clue how to solve. Valise, can you clarify a question for me?” I inquired. She walked over from her desk and questioned, “Yes, Winnie, what can I help you on?” I glanced at her and confessed, “I can’t really remember how to complete most of these problems. What should I do?” She told me that she was unable to aid me and I just need to try my best. I thought hard, and searched the information in the recesses of my brain, but I only managed to complete about sixty percent of the test. The constant tick, tock, tick, tock, of the clock pounding in my ears didn’t help as I tried to recall the information and counted down the minutes I had left. “Guys, you have ten minutes left!” Mrs. Valise announced. Anxious thoughts flooded through my brain, running, bouncing, and chasing each other over the unanswered questions. I quickly checked over my test and guessed on the questions that I did not know the answers to. The timer on the smartboard rang, and one by one, we got up to hand in our tests.
