The Kiwanis Hi-Liters is a group of eighteen or so young performers between 7 and 18 who travelled to local convalescent homes and nursing homes each week from September to May in an effort to bring some joy to the elderly. Throughout these two-hour shows, there were performances from singers, musicians, clowns, and magicians. When I first started as the backstage manager my role was to ensure the audio technicians had the proper music for each performance prior to the start of the show, organizing the performers before their numbers and relaying pertinent information to the directors regarding any changes that needed to be made to the line-up because of unforeseen complications whether that was the performer was no longer available to do their

As matter of fact, the actors at some points are out in the audience, which makes for a kind of unique experience; things like lighting cues, set pieces just kind of spice it up. I think people will recognize the touch TJ theatre puts on
So this was not my first time at the University’s theater. I arrived early in hopes of finding a good seat, and saw a number of tables set up across the stage. In addition
The Tuesday, March 28 performance of Ithaca Colleges production of The Cradle Will Rock emphasizes the Brechtian element of distancing the audience from the performance that Blitzstein 's original script lacks. Before the show began, the actors and the stage manager casually roamed about the stage, at times talking with friends in the audience or each other, played a few notes on the piano, and did microphone checks–all out of character. From the spectators ' first moments in the theatre, a clear distinction between the actors and their characters can be seen. Throughout the play, the actors helped move around various props on wheels, such as the piano, a bar counter, and pews. In addition, arching from stage right to left and arching
How did the failure of the State of Franklin demonstrates the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation? First of all the, the congress was divided into 13 states and each state had one vote in congress. Congress handled many problems, like how to make the western lands made by the united states i the treaty of paris. Congress failed to solve problems between states due to taxes and boundaries. Most of the citizens felt like the government was too weak.
The stage performance did an excellent job being true to the play. The stage manager, who is
In the song “Frosty the Snowman”, which was written by Walter “Jack” Rollins and Steve Nelson, shows you that your childhood is one that you shouldn’t forget. As you become older, you might lose the memories of the happiness, joy, as well as imagination which made up your childhood. Throughout the song, the narrator does a great job emphasizing how fun it is to play during winter, and how important it is to never forget that by using dialogue, rhyme, together with imagery. The way dialogue impacts this song by authenticating that Frosty has turned into an actual living creature. Rhyming affects this song by helping the reader create an image of playfulness in their mind.
It was mid-December in the North Pole during the time that Rudolph catches Emma the elf eating candy canes nonstop. Rudolph knows that her behaviour is wrong so when Santa Claus comes to feed the reindeer their peppermint flavoured gingerbread pellets that night he tells Santa what he saw. As he hears this he becomes cross with the elf. Santa has a wish to talk with Emma regarding the candy cane scenario but she’s sound asleep. He doesn 't wake her up because the night is soon to be over.
Upstage is back, downstage is front, right is left, left is right, out is up, break a leg but don't really, wings have nothing to do with birds, the catwalk doesn’t involve cats, and when the stage manager says move it means move. The theatre vocabulary is very confusing for the outside world, but for me it is my second language. More specifically, I have developed a passion for the technical elements of theatre over the years. The joy of being the “people in black” that can make amazing sets and produce incredible plays which goes unnoticed.. Although this discourse is much small yet complex it has helped me find out who I am but also in my academic skills through learning how to work in teams, solve problems independently but also how to be
"All the world 's a stage. " I didn 't anticipate 600 feverish eyes staring back at me. Panic arose among my fellow actors, as the hope of escape became grimmer by the second. We had two option: climb or die. Up the set, I go, grabbing a crowbar on the way.
2015, 129). Each performer acquires roles which contain expected behaviours that are appropriate to the performance of that role (Willmott, 2018). When we perform our roles to other actors and to our audience, we view them as theatrical productions. Our performance displays
Occasion: I was prompted to write about this topic while staring at my mini Christmas tree and surrounding Christmas decorations. Audience: My intended audience is my peers, for I think my piece is something they can relate to and connect with. Their favorite holiday, if they have one, may or may not be Christmas, therefore I did not assume that they too absolutely love Christmas.
On November 28th, 2015 I attended Ben Stevenson’s version of The Nutcracker which was being performed by the Houston Ballet at the Wortham Theater Center. The dance featured two separate acts and multitude of dances as well as a live orchestra. The Nutcracker demonstrated the ability to unleash a multitude of emotions as well captivate its audience with music composed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky of the Romantic era, usage of modern technologies and techniques such as lighting and special effects, as well as its wide variety of dance types such as solo dances, pas de deux, and large group dances with a focus on a central figure or couple. Despite dance being the primary subject, it is necessary to note the performance of the orchestra of Tchaikovsky’s
The cartoon Spongebob Squarepants is an American classic; premiering in mid-1999, the show has since become enormously popular and a widely-recognized cultural staple. The show’s content resembles the American cultural standards in a similar way– take the episode Snowball Effect, for example: the nation’s civilization is oozing out of Spongebob, Patrick and Squidward’s misadventures. The episode demonstrates the common draw to conflict and competition that is buried deep within the American identity. The show opens on Bikini Bottom, the town in which the show primarily takes place, and winter weather has brought “not a pillow or a sheet, but a blanket… a blanket of snow”.
