This is an article under the heading of Oak Islands “Money Pit” by David MacDonald, condensed from The Rotarian in the reader’s digest. In this article he wrote about the treasure hunt in different angles and the work as well as the money invested over 170 years to find the ‘money pit’. But the most interesting aspect is that yet today no one was able to get the chest of treasure.
The Oak Island lies in Scotia, Canada and it says about a treasure buried in the Oak Island by pirates for two centuries. There were many folk stories said about this money pit for generations and about their safe keeper the sea. People believe whatever they here and they started exploring the area to find none but failures. It says about a treasure which is hidden deep inside for almost two centuries. From 1795 onwards it goes on in a chronological order explaining very deeply about the events or work done by different people in finding this treasure. Some of the achievements in finding this treasure includes finding stone cut sayings in 1804, finding two chests and three links of a gold chain in 1849, finding salt water in 1850, finding the flood-tunnel outlet in 1893 and finding an olive colored stone chiseled with the date 1704 by Restall. It talks about the people and researchers and their role played in this hence providing a clear picture or history of the events which will be very helpful for the history students. It may also play a role in helping the archeologists as well as the researchers and explorers as these references like the exact location and scientific terms used mainly fits for them. The article even consists of pictures and figures which will give a strength to what it is saying hence at last it does not prove anything. Mainly it is based on people’s belief and talks about how strong they hold on their words till the last minute like McInnes.
