To many Americans Obamacare or the ACA (Affordable Care Act) is a vital part of their lives. This law allows everyday citizens to be able to attain affordable health care ,and has improved the health care system in the US in numerous ways. Although this has proven to be an important part of twenty million american lives. The GOP is taking action to get this law repealed ,and with the majority of congress being republican this puts the ACA in danger of becoming no more. Although the Republican party has come with promises of a better improved health care system to fix Obamacare's shortcomings. Despite this the healthcare system still had its flaws. One of them being the constant rise of health care cost throughout time and the unreliant system for people during certain epidemics like AIDS (PBS). Previous generations just needed a reliant affordable health care system to depend on ,but the health care industry was flawed and unstable from the start to the early 2000s. The health care system improved but still wasn't the stable system that was needed for citizens in America. “The Affordable Care Act brought upon the largest middle class tax cut for health insurance in history. President Obama thought that every American should have some sort of basic security” (Affordable Health ACA). This type of system of health care was fought for by many generations before it finally came to fruition with President Obama signing the bill into law in March 2010. “Democrats had previously fought for a nationwide health insurance system for 75 years”(). The Affordable Care allows twenty million americans to attain affordable health care coverage. Without taking action against the repeal of the ACA will allow many Americans to lose their health insurance. Many stories have surfaced about how Obamacare has saved lives and improved the quality of care for so many people. Obamacare has prevented people with pre existing illnesses from being rejected from health insurance companies. Therefore allowing them to be able to get treated for whatever sickness someone could have. One story can be seen from a cancer patient Xeni Jordan that was denied insurance from health insurance companies. She says “This ACA debate is real for me. It’s not health care. It is life support”(Jordan 1). Or maybe take it from Republican Jeff Jeans who confronted speaker Ryan about how Obamacare has saved his life. "I want to thank President Obama from the bottom of my heart because I would be dead if it weren't for him”(Ryan 1). While Americans depend their lives on the ACA the only answer that is given to these people when they ask about the potential repeal is a promise of something better.
