One of the strongest traits to possess is not courage nor intellect, but rather love for one another. The novel, In the time of the Butterflies, by Julia Alvarez, perfectly illustrates the capabilities love can accomplish. Introduction: “It’s important to have loyal friends” If your friends are not loyal, stop being friends with them. In this essay I will be comparing the short story “Minnows & Zombies” and the short film “Partly cloudy” In the short story, “Minnows & Zombies,” by Rita Williams Garcia, is about a kid that goes to a swimming summer camp and breaks a record with his friends so the leaders take them to the seven eleven down the street. On the way they pass multiple “zombies” who are just homeless people and the kids are scared and hold close to each other, so the leader named Daisy “protects” them, then they get to the seven eleven and go get the popsicles and leave, the kid looks back and sees Daisy buy a water bottle for a “zombie” and the kid

Choosing to be your own person rather than being like everyone else can feel empowering after a struggle. In Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, reading books is a crime. A “criminal” who is caught reading a book goes to jail and the fire department has to burn the book. After Montag, a firefighter, finds himself ignoring rules, he is caught by his chief and is forced to run away, in search of new books and people who understand him. After he finds a group of retired professors.
Within this passage, the author uses first point of view as shown by the use of the words ‘I’, ‘me’, and ‘my’. The tone can be described as intense, solemn, and uneasy. The author uses first point of view to put the text in perspective of one person’s feelings, actions, and reaction to the whole situation. The reader can attempt to connect to the range of emotions the character is going through and knowing the thoughts of the character, they can picture the negative impact the character’s surroundings are having on them. Nijkamp coneys the tone by having the character recall how fear and survival are alike following with how she had not felt afraid in a while until then, when her brother has them locked in and is holding a gun.
Morris Gleitzman uses the first person viewpoint to reinforce the readers experience of the horror of the Holocaust in World War 2. For example when Felix sees the blood of the Jews who were shot, running in the river, he says "The water 's so red it almost looks like blood. But even with all those gunshots the hunter couldn 't have killed that many rabbits."
