Life is filled with sorrow and pain for those who are unsheltered against the cruelties of the world. Among these mentioned cruelties, war plays a monumental role; it is an inevitable factor of human existence. Despite making its presence countless times throughout human history, it continues to resurface because people do not learn from their mistakes. Ergo, history is bound to repeat. War ruthlessly and unforgivingly tears family apart, and forces humans to make difficult, life-altering decisions. Futhermore, war thrusts people into the hands of strangers. During an escape, the decision to trust random strangers is thrown out the window. One does not make choices based on logic but according to tough circumstances. It is a life or death matter, and people have to pray and have faith in the bribed strangers that are responsible for helping them escape. In addition, extreme measures must be taken. Individuals’ lives are either sacrificed or risked to assist others into asylum. When in the case of successfully leaving one’s native country, it is not even guaranteed that one safely emigrates to the destination. Not only does war affect humans physically, it also exerts them on an emotional level. Loss, grief, and guilt are often experienced in this turmoil. Family members often never see each other again with the vast distance separating them. All the things that people have to overcome to be the people who they are in the present are a result of life lessons. Life teaches people to love and appreciate others, to care for people who may not share the same blood, and especially to love oneself. War, loss, grief, loneliness, and exile may all be a part of the greater thing called life, but family triumphs all of those aspects. There is nothing greater in the world than to be able to say that one has a family to share the gifts and positive things that life has to offer. Family teaches values that cannot be learned elsewhere and build unrelenting characters in individuals. It is a source of stability and probably the only thing that remains constant in the ever shifting events in the world. Wars may come, bring destruction, and leave but family builds people. People may come across conflicts and heartaches in the family, but by the end of the day, they can come together and resolve it. If people are not able to have a strong respect, love, and appreciaton for each other in the family, there is no possible way for them to be able to negotiate and get along with foreign countries when it comes to diplomatic issues.
