Have you ever double checked if you locked the door? If so imagine doing this 20 times, this is what it?s like to be someone with obsessive-compulsive disorder. Today I?m going to inform you about OCD. First I will tell you what OCD is and its causes. Second I will tell you the different categories of OCD. Last of all I will explain how OCD is treated and/or relieved.
OCD was originally considered an anxiety disorder and is a disabling disorder that puts people in endless cycles and repetitive situations. Most actually wish that it would go away and that they didn?t have to double check everything or clean so much.
Now, last of all I will explain the ways to treat/relieve OCD. First of all OCD does not have a cure, only ways to temporarily take away the symptoms. People with OCD are also not diagnosed right in a lot of cases. A lot of times people think it is something like bi-polar disorder, ADHD, Tourette?s, or just having social anxiety. When this happens that means people aren?t getting the right medication or help that they need for OCD (?OCD Facts and Statistics?).
One way for making it go down is to do therapy. When they do this they make people try and face their fears to help make that fear go away or make it not as bad. Therapy works the best when people start going early on but statistics show the average person waits 6 to 9 years before they decide to go to therapy. Another way OCD can be relieved is by medication. Taking medication won?t take it away but will temporarily make the symptoms not as bad (?obsessive-compulsive
