Odysseus In Homer's Odyssey

I’m wondering how it got to this point. How did it get to the point that my eye is gone and replaced by a gaping hole in the middle of my face? It is all because of that damned Odysseus. That sharp minded Odysseus playing his tricks on me, causing me so much pain. It started when I was herding my sheep, getting them across the vast mountains on my way home. I longed for my cozy cave for I was extremely tired from crossing over the mountain. I just wanted to go back and rest. But, of course, it wasn’t that easy for me to enjoy the rest of my day.

I got home extremely exhausted and ready to take a long nap. I was extremely hungry and wanted to eat before I went into my deep slumber. But to my surprise, I had a few visitors. I was taken aback.

I sunk my teeth into them and tore them up. My teeth went red from the blood spewing out of their bodies. I could see the discomfort on all their faces. They cried to Zeus but that didn’t faze me at all. I only bow to Poseidon, my father, for he has given me everything I have needed. I sat down and milked the ewes and tried to finish my chores. I grabbed a couple of more humans to gobble up but then one of the men stepped forward and offered me something. Those puny humans were no match me, I felt as if they gave in and acted as if they were now my servants to hang on for dear life. He handed me this drink, it looked extremely dark like the night sky. I asked the man what his name was, he didn’t answer. I took the dark drink and gulped it down. It tasted like honey straight from a bees nest. I wanted more so I ordered the men to get me more. I drank about 3 more bowls of the drink. The man who handed me the drink told me his name was “Nohbdy”. I was really delighted by the drink but I wouldn’t let that feeble man use me. I promised him that I would devour him last. At this point, I was already tired and the drink made me woozier. My vision was getting blurrier and I collapsed like a tree getting chopped down. I flailed my arms around but realized there was no way for me to find those little men. I opened the cave door hoping that I would be able to feel out those filthy rascals as they tried to run.
