In many ways Greek Mythology has influenced many sources of art, poetry, books, and more. There are many different stories about Greek gods and goddesses, such as Persephone, Zeus, Hades, Penelope, Odysseus, and many more. The stories of these great Greek gods and goddesses have multiple meanings, and can be interpreted in many ways. However, the story of Odysseus is mainly interpreted as a tale of bravery and heroic actions. Odysseus is known for his bravery in taking on Troy, and fighting for ten years in the Trojan war, which he led his army to victory in. Both Penelope and Odysseus by Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein and “You Are Odysseus” by Linda Pastan use the myth of Odysseus’ life to show that life can be a struggle but you have to push forward and persevere through the harder times. When times are rough, remain calm and work through the problem. Even when you get angry, you need to take deep breaths and discuss the matter at hand, to create a solution.
