Troy is a good example of this. At Troy, Odysseus came up with the idea for the Trojan Horse, which would ultimately aid the Greek army in finally defeating the Trojans. On Polyphemos’ island, Odysseus outsmarted the cyclops by giving him a false name and spearing the giant in his eye using a log that he carved into a

Ethan Pfeiffle Mr. Kawel ENGL 2 February 21, 2023 Working title This paper will be about how Odysseus became a hero and the obstacles he faced during his journey home, and how my choice text “Long way down” compares with the Odyssey. This essay comes from the odyssey written in the 7th century BC by Homer. Before he was lost at sea and missing for 10 years he was a war hero, he is the one who won the trojan war for the greeks with his genius idea of the trojan horse where they made a hollow horse that they stuffed warriors into and they gave it to the trojans as peace gift but after they celebrated and got drunk and fell asleep the warriors came out and opened the gates to troy and they killed all of the trojans and won the war.
The role of the archetypal hero, who has incredible bravery, power, leadership, and determination, like Odysseus evolves in Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey. Odysseus is a king who led his crew on a 10-year journey after a victory in the Trojan War. His motivation was to return home to his beloved wife, Penelope. The poem was written around the 8th Century BC and is set in Ancient Greece around 1200 B.C.E. Odysseus is the King of Ithaca, which is an important factor when considering him a hero. In Ancient Greece, being a member of royalty made Odysseus powerful and placed him in a leadership role.
In this case, Odysseus distinguishes himself as the widely celebrated Trojan War hero, instead of the old beggar he appears to be, by virtue of his great strength and skill, showing the importance of that trait to the storyline and the Greek people of that time. Odysseus' physical strength assists him in defeating many enemies, human and mythical, and is fundamental to his role and an epic
In the epic The Odyssey, the epic hero Odysseus shows many hero like traits, in my opinion the most important trait would be loyalty. Odysseus, the hero of The Odyssey, first shows the trait loyalty on the Land of the Lotus Eaters. Odysseus sends three of his best men to check out this island, but bad luck has them and they run into Lotus Eaters who are addicted to the Lotus Plant. The next they know is the three men become addicted also.
Odysseus was an effective leader in battle, an amazing fighter, and he was the person who helped defeat Troy by using the wooden horse. Although everyone thought this was a heroic action by Odysseus to obtain victory, the gods were not so happy with him, especially Zeus. The gods punished Odysseus by making his journey back home difficult for him and his men. Even though Odysseus was being challenged by gods, he had traits that were of an epic hero. Also, throughout his journey he had friends and companions to help him travel back to Ithaca safely and obtain his kingdom once again.

Battles, Giants, Monsters, Gods, and Goddesses. Odysseus, the great hero from the epic poem The Odyssey, by Robert Fagles, is a cunning man who faces many challenges and foes on his journey home to Ithaca. However, he makes many grave mistakes, learning how to balance pride, impatience, and stubbornness with greatness. Through the stories passed down, these lessons are ones to be learned by all.
What did John mean when he said “If one’s different, one’s bound to be lonely” in the story Brave New World? What I think John meant was that when people are different from others, they might feel excluded because they don't typically fit in with those certain types of people because they can have certain types of differences they like and don't like or they can have different liking's which can cause them to feel lonely and feel like they don't have a social life and making it hard for them to express their feelings and their actions towards other people. But it can also be good for the person that is feeling lonely because they can experience life by doing things by themselves and not counting on others to do those things for them. Why did John the Savage say that? He said that because he was also experiencing loneliness and feeling
Many will claim that Odysseus is truly the hero of this story after all. He is the main center of focus throughout the entire poem, and he helped win the Trojan War with his wooden horse idea. He cleverly tricked the Cyclops, which got him and several other men out of the cyclops’ grasp. He also tried to warn his men of the dangers that would overcome if they killed the cattle on the island.
Epic Hero Essay “The gods have tried me in a thousand ways. But my first name: let that be known to you, and if I pull away from pitiless death, friendship will blind us, though my land lies far.” In the epic poem “The Odyssey” by Homer, while traveling back from the Trojan War, Odysseus and his men were struggling to go back to their homeland safely after what they had done to the son of Poseidon. Odysseus is an epic hero because he was a great warrior, came from a noble birth and was capable of great strength and courage.
Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, is a man that is looked at as a celebrity by humans because of his skillful fighting, and by the gods because of his intelligence and wits. The king went through numerous tasks and obstacles to get back to his homeland. One task in particular proves his power and the love he has for his loyal and wise wife, Penelope. Looking at lines four hundred fifty-one through four hundred seventy-one, the moment Odysseus, while disguised by the God Athena, proves to the suitors and workers that he is the rightful husband, king, and lord by stringing his own bow and shooting it through twelve axes; the task was quick and perfect for Odysseus.
