We have read many texts throughout this year some were interesting and some not so much, but they have taught us many things and showed us different points of view. There are many texts that have taught me what it is like to be an American citizen, but there is one that has impacted me the most and that is the short novel “ Of Mice And And Men“. The short novel is the most impacting because it shows the hardships and eases of life if there were any back during the Great Depression which was pretty horrible and horrific to an extent. After we have read “Of Mice And Men” it had an impact on how I view America as a whole from back in that time period. So therefore I would say that the short novel would have the biggest impact on me as a American citizen because it was some hard times back during the Great Depression and people had to struggle to live ,also another one that had a big impact on me was the text “The Chinese Must Go” because it is quite hypocritical, but they overcame it eventually and soon rose to become a great nation. George at the end of the book had to put down Lennie even though they had been together since the very start of the book which is quite dreadful. It shows how he stands up and puts Lennie out of his misery because curley wanted to shoot him in the guts for killing his wife and I took it as George watching out for Lennie because Curly wanted to hurt him and make sure he was in plenty of pain so basically kind of torture him in a sense , and George didn't want that so he just manned up and put him out of his misery.
