On page 51 and 52 Drummond says “I understand what Bert’s going through. It’s the loneliest feeling in the world - to find yourself standing up when everybody else is sitting down...Walking down an empty street, listening to the sound of your own footsteps.” This means to fight for what you believe in is hard especially if your the only one who believes it, and Drummond describes it as the loneliest feeling in the world. If you stand with the townspeople than you are playing it safe. In this casanario more people will stand with you and fight with you. Standing alone may give you less power but will be more influential because more people will listening to your side of the story. In 1955 Rosa Parks rode in the whites-only section of the bus even though she was colored. Rosa thought it was unjust to make segregation laws in busses so she decided to stand up for her rights and sit in the whites-only section. Cates was in a similar situation when he taught evolution even though it was illegal, they both acted alone when they did this. And in the end they both one there cases. The lesson applies to this situation because they both stood alone and fought for their rights and what they believe should be right. The silence breakers stood alone and told the world that they got sexually harassed. By speaking out to the world about what has happened to them they are standing alone by speaking out. This situation is similar to Drummond & Cates situation because they were both didn't have evidence and it was only there words against the other people.
