Operation Anaconda Joint Functions The tragic attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, placed the United States in a hostile state. These actions resulted in a military campaign named “Operation Enduring Freedom”. The United States military forces moved into Afghanistan immediately and began to fight the war on terrorism. The unconventional battle space in Afghanistan provided challenges to the joint functions operational structure.
