In the movie V for Vendetta, the first sign of opposition to the government comes in the form of ‘V’, an escaped prisoner who was locked up and experimented on against his will. ‘V’ motivated by his opposition to the government due to his knowledge of their crimes knows that there needs to be drastic change, however the Norsefyre Party controlled government perpetuates an system of submission through violence, surveillance and the restriction of mediums that may contain revolutionary ideas such as literature, art and music. Opposing the government in V for Vendetta often has deadly consequences making the people afraid to openly speak against them.
‘V’ recognises that without the peoples support he cannot destroy the current system so he begins to reach out to them, for example, ‘V’ hijacks a T.V broadcast, which allows his revolutionary ideas to take root in the population. ‘V’s speech during the broadcast shows the connection of governments ruling without the support of the people

I find a quote in ‘V’s speech particularly relevant “if you are looking for the guilty you only need look into a mirror” because he acknowledges the peoples’ fear elected the current government to protect them from war, illness and terror that plagued them. I think
