In 2006, studies found that for the first time in many years, the teenaged birth rate increased in America. The number of pregnancies of female under the age of 18 year increased also. In the world today it seems as if teen pregnancy has become more accepted and approved by people in the world today. To say that the increased birth rate in teen is an eye opener, is an understatement. Females between the ages of 15-17 pregnancies has increased by in fact 3 percent to 22 babies per 1,000 females. Teen pregnancy is way too common for the generation that in right now and the young women that are in foster care are more than twice as likely as their peers that are not in foster care. In September of 2010, the Department of Health and Human Services awarded $155 million in teen pregnancy prevention grants to states. As been said, many foster youth miss out on the sex education because of changes in foster care homes. The teen pregnancy rates can decrease in one or two ways and that’s if the teens would not have sex and become more contraceptive users or both. In 2010 over 614,000 U.S. teens became pregnant and 82% explained that their pregnancy was unplanned. The teen pregnancy rate has declined in the nation and as whole. The majority of teen pregnancy ocurs during 16-19 years of age. Although for the same time period, abortion was not an option for most people seeing the way their religions and belief of the parents were made up. Teen pregnancy rates have in fact decreased a lot more than what some may have thought that it would but on the other hand it hasn’t due to the simple fact that some parents do not have a care in the world on what their child are doing.
