In Animal Farm all the information was controlled by the pigs just like how the information during the Russian Revolution was monitored by the Russian government. The control of information during the Russian Revolution and Animal Farm is shown when Gillespie and Naden state that, “Napoleon may be likened to Stalin, the former despotic ruler of the Soviet Union. He is ruthless in carrying out his plans for his own betterment.” Animal Farm demonstrates that oppression is created through the control of information because Napoleon, who was linked to Stalin, used one main tactic in Animal Farm and it was to control the information that was spread around the farm. The authors of the Russian Revolution article state that, “ Napoleon concentrates on the advantages he can gain for himself; and whereas Snowball plans, activities out in the open, Napoleon plots secretly, as when he covertly trains the dogs.” (Gillespie and Naden).
