Final Assignment Poetry is not only a form of literature or just words but it expresses human feelings. Many reasons can lead a human to write in order to express how he or she feels. It also shows ones’ experience in life and the reader will notice the writer life history appears in his words. This paper will tackled two different poems by two different writers from two different countries to show various points of view. They are about an important problem that black women faced which is oppression against black women. These poems written by two different females because no one could express this problem except the one who live in the problem and face it with his society. The first poem written by Audre Lorde, it is called “Coal”. First who is Audre Lorde ? What are the reasons that lead her to write this poem? To answer these questions we have to look in her life history. Audre Lorde was a black feminist poet who born on February 18, 1934, in New York City. Her poems express her anger against the stereotype image of “black women” it addresses the injustice of sexism and racism. She decided to break her silence and showing her feelings about black women in her poems. She suffered in her childhood from oppression; in her school, the environment was so racist. “Coal” this poem considers a reflection to Audres’ relationship with her society. …show more content…

In fact, this poem tackled another important problem, which is gender inequality so this is another theme that lead the black women suffer from oppression also. The most obvious theme is racism; it shows how society controls your life and determined how you will be treated by your color.
